Slow Down. Think Better.

Bagels, Coffee and Clarity

Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes

Welcome to Behind the Books! A 3-minute read with stories, tools, and lessons from real companies—what worked, what didn’t, and what founders can learn.

☕ The Story:

So here's what happened this week. I didn't write the newsletter.

Not because I was busy. Not because I was "grinding."

I just... didn't want to.

Woke up Friday. Opened my laptop. Saw my content calendar staring back at me.

All those success stories I'm supposed to chase. All those frameworks I need to create. All those "10X your growth" posts I should be writing.

And I thought: what if I just... don't?

So I closed the laptop. Got a coffee and a bagel instead. Sat there for an hour doing absolutely nothing productive.

And honestly? It felt illegal. Like I was breaking some unspoken rule of the internet.

You're supposed to be optimizing. Hustling. Winning.

But here's what I remembered while eating that bagel: We're human.

Not content machines. Not productivity robots. Not success-story-generating algorithms.

Just people who sometimes need to sit quietly with a coffee and remember what it feels like to breathe.

The Lesson:

Every guru online will tell you to do more. Post more. Create more. Optimize more.

Nobody tells you it's okay to do less. Nobody says: "Hey, take a break. You've earned it."

So I'm saying it.

Take the break. Get the coffee. Eat the damn bagel.

From Behind the Books:

The success stories will still be there tomorrow.

But this moment? This quiet Friday morning?

It won't.

Your Weekly Prompt:

When was the last time you stopped not because you had to, but because you chose to?

Make it this week.

Get the coffee. Eat the bagel.

PS. If you needed permission to slow down this week, consider this it.
